Moving can take a ton of time, effort, sweat, and muscle. Even if you are really excited about the move in general, the actual physical part of moving is for the bird – nobody actually wants to do it! So, when you do go to move, get it done as fast as you possibly can. Not sure how to do so? Here are some ways to save time when moving –

Get Organized

Two months before your move, keep track of all your mail and make a list of people, subscriptions, and organizations that should be notified of your changing address. Don’t forget about your bank, your insurance agent, your doctor, and your vet. Just before your move, contact the postal service for a change of address form. This is one aspect of getting organized for your move, but there is another aspect, as well. The selling and buying of your home (or at least the closing out of your rental agreement). Plus, the actual move! These are all things that you need to organize beforehand, so that you can save time now and in the long-run. If you are unorganized, it will not only take longer to move, but it will cause a headache, as well.

Clean Everything

To get organized with your things, you need to work step by step. The first step and rule of moving is to get rid of unnecessary clutter before you go. That way, you won’t have to find a place for those rarely-used items when you get to your new home. Host a garage sale or donate goods to a local charity. You can also consider selling items, if they are worth something. Do keep in mind: the homeless population is in desperate need of warm clothing items and blankets right now, so please consider donating some items!

Pack A To Go Box

When you arrive at your new residence, your essentials box will be the first thing you unpack. In it, you’ll want to include items like:

  • Alarm clock
  • Aspirin or pain reliever
  • Basic cleaning supplies and paper towels
  • Bedding and linens
  • Box cutter or knife
  • Change of clothes
  • Coffee maker or instant coffee and tea
  • Disposable plates, cups, and eating utensils
  • Extension cords and batteries
  • First-aid kit
  • Flashlights
  • Garbage bags
  • Light bulbs
  • Map of new area
  • Medications and eyeglasses
  • Pet supplies
  • Phone book for new area
  • Plastic trash bags
  • Scissors
  • Screwdriver and hammer
  • Shower curtain and towels
  • Snacks
  • Tape and dispenser
  • Toilet paper
  • Toiletries (soap, shampoo, razors, etc.)
  • Toys and games for the kids
  • Work gloves

  • Anything else you think you will need

The reason why you want to pack a to go box? You need to be prepared, obviously. Occasionally, you can lose a box while moving. It might be under other boxes, or in a different room, etc., your to go box will travel with you in your car and you can put it in a special spot so that you know where all of your essential needs are. You could also pack a suitcase for a few outfits + your toiletries for the first few days/nights.

Hire Movers – And Be Available

One thing to keep in mind when you do hire movers? Be available to answer questions! If you’re using a professional moving company, make yourself available to answer questions on both ends of the move – loading and unloading. Make sure the driver has your contact information and details of your delivery to keep the process as organized and easy as possible. Hiring movers is probably the best tip that I can give you when it comes to saving time while moving. It’s always a good option, you just want to make sure to use a reliable company, such as New Jersey Transport inc. Moving Company. They can provide a quick moving quote in NJ and they provide a full range of moving, packing, and storage services for both residential and commercial customers. They aim to be completely transparent, unfront, and honest. This allows them to provide stress-free (and quick!) moving and transportation services. Plus, since they are the most experienced and reputable moving company out there, you can rest easy and do not have to stress during the move. Save time and stress when using their moving services!

There are many ways to save time, money, and stress when moving, but my best tip of all is to hire New Jersey Transport inc. Moving Company. They will help you each step of the way when it comes to your move!
