So what does this mom of 4 carry around with her as I am running from the park, to the store, to the lake, and everywhere else we go?
1. Snacks. I try to always have snacks with us. My kids are forever hungry and if I bought something to eat every time someone wanted something to eat I’d be broke. Or more accurate, we’d never go anywhere.
2.Wipes. My kids are always getting dirty. It comes with being outside. And since I already said my children want to eat all the time, I need a way to clean them up.
3. Bandages, antiseptic cream, and medicine. My kids are little dare devils and they are very accident prone, so almost every outing includes some scrape that needs attending to. But they also have awful allergies, and headaches so it isn’t surprising that often times we need something for that. I hate to be caught unprepared.
4. Bug Spray. Not right now, but as the summer goes on, the mosquitos get really bad. And with the threat of the West Nile Virus being found every year in my area, and also lots of ticks that carry Lyme Disease. I want to make sure the kids are protected.
5. Sunscreen. Sunscreen is so important. For years I only looked at sunscreen as a way to not get sunburn. On those bright sunny days I would remember to put sunscreen on my kids but it was still for fear of sunburn. Over the past few years, I am learning just how dangerous it can be for anyone to not wear sunscreen, all the time when outside. My step father was diagnosed with small melanoma patches that they had to cut away. I also fell in love with the Showtime series The Big C. The ending was so emotional and devastating. It was a real eye opener for me. 
Hawaiian Tropic heard all of the complaints that people had with sunscreen and they made adjustments. There is a sunscreen to make everyone happy. They have a Dry Oil spray, a non greasy, oil free lotion that leave skin soft when it is protecting, and a 12 hour Silk Hydration Facial sunscreen that will not clog pores. And since they are from Hawaiian Tropics they have that beachy tanning oil smell instead of a sunscreen smell.
What are the essentials in your on the run or travel bag?
First off I love that bag! Its so cute. Hawaiian Tropics is one of my favorite sunscreen brands.
My husband makes fun of me because I have bags “pre-packed” for different outings and they all sit in the front hall closet. Our beach bag looks pretty similar!
AH! I have a travel bag, too, with much of the same things in it, even though my kids are 15 and 12. Once day, my husband decided to “help me” and clean out my truck, He took out my travel bag and I was lost! I think these things are super important to have around when you need them!
I wish it was nice enough here to fill a travel bag with sunscreen and hit the beach. 🙂 LOL
I really should carry sunscreen in my bag with how easily I burn! But I usually have drinks and snacks in my back for the boys. I think I need to get together a little ziploc bag so it’s easier to transfer it into the different bags that I use. Will be on my to do list this weekend!
Also I want that facial sunscreen!

Great reminder to check the first aid kit in the car for band-aid! Also love hearing about Hawaiian Tropic adjustments as we need to buy some new sunscreen!
I’ll have to try their facial version. Most of them make my eyes sting like crazy!
I am horrible about carrying those things when I am running around town, but I always have bandages & sunscreen when we travel. Around town, I always have lip balm and my camera.
This is a great checklist, and definitely all things are needed! Of course, being moms, we usually overpack, but that’s okay 🙂
Diapers, wipes, chapstick, water, snacks (because they’re allllways hungry), hair ties, business cards, pen and paper, my wallet, and my travel bag of essential oils.
We are big fans of Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen. I love taking it with me when we travel.
Must have lipstick for me and a change of clothes for my youngest daughter – you never know when you are on the go!
My summer bag includes sun block, bug spray, sunglasses, hats, bandages, and wipes. I will add items as needed, but those things are always in there.

I’ve ditched the bag for the most part at this point but I really should put small one in the van for just in case with summer here! Thanks for the reminder!
This is a super bag! It reminds me of my mom’s beach bag because she had always a lot of sunscreens and snacks. She had also a huge water bottle 🙂
I try to travel light but I bring with me some essencials like tissues, antibacterial gel, wipes, lip balm… things like these.
