I love to read. I used to read all of the time. And then I started having kids. And then I had more kids. Then I started working from home, with my kids and before I knew it, my reading time had kind of fallen by the bedside table. I started having trouble even reading a small book or something that I needed to know. Reading for fun was something that was a distant memory.

Here’s the problem. I might have lost my time to read, but the great authors I love, are still writing these fantastic books. They taunt me. I get emails from them saying “Hey guess what, I added a new book to this series”.  Barnes & Nobles sends me emails telling me about what new books are out and what is on the best sellers list. It is like rubbing into my no time to read wound.

So I started to find time to read whenever I can. I made it my mission. I grab whatever free time I can get to read. Here are a few suggestions:

In the tub: There is nothing that makes a bath more relaxing that reading in the tub. Even if you only get to soak for an extra 5 or 10 minutes, that is long enough to read a few pages.

While drinking your coffee: If you are an early riser, which I am not, while the house is quiet and you are trying to enjoy that morning coffee, try to get in a few minutes of reading time.

Before bed: If you are like me, this one might be dangerous. I am a “just one one page” kind of reader, so there have been many of nights that just a few pages or a chapter turned into the sun is rising and I haven’t put the book down yet. Still, if you can control yourself, reading a few pages at night can be a nice way to relax from the day.

In those waiting rooms: It might make running errands likes to the dr and getting an oil change more enjoyable. While you are waiting, you can sneak in a few pages.

Use the new NOOK GlowLight Plus ereader: There is nothing worse than dropping your book in the tub and ruining it. Or what happens to me when I travel, I finish my book and don’t have  anew one with me. With the Nook ereader, I always have my next book with me. Plus, the Barnes & Noble NOOK is waterproof and dust-proof. It is honestly the best way to be able to fund time to read. It is small and compact but has the viewing screen about the size as my favorite book size. It fits in my purse easily so that I can always have it with me. The words seem to pop off the page for easier reading.nook

If you have a reader in your family, or even as a gift to yourself this holiday season, the NOOK GlowLight Plus makes a great gift idea. Be sure to see the rest of the great features it has to offer.

Are you a reader? Share with me your favorite author so that I can fill my Barnes & Noble NOOK up with more books.

I love James Fenmore Cooper and Jesse Stuart. Reading before bed is so dangerous! I can never read just one page.

These are great tips. I really need to find more time to read. I have been trying to color a little bit to just unwind and unstressed.

Love my nook. I just found out about a book called “the Business of Broadway” that I am dying to read.
