It happens every month. The car insurance bill comes in. All I can think as I am paying it, man, I could be using that money for a road trip somewhere. I know I have to have car insurance. IN my state it is the law, plus car insurance helps protect me in case I am involved in an accident. It doesn’t mean that I like sending that money away each month. But there are ways to make that insurance premium a little more budget friendly.
1. Comparison Shop: Whether you are looking for new service or just want to see what else is available, you should shop around. Just like stores, some companies charge more for the same coverage. Always check what you are getting for the policy and make sure you are getting the coverage that you need before changing your plan.
2. Additional Discounts: Many companies have additional discounts available. There are discounts for being married, for having an insurance bundle, more than one policy, a low annual driving mileage, and even good student discounts.
3. Consider having a higher deductible: When purchasing your collision and comprehensive coverage, consider how much of a deductible you want to have. A higher deductible means that your premium is lower. Sometimes, it can lower your premium by up to 30% simply by changing the deductible from $250 to $500.
