If you have an older vehicle, the headlights might be looking a little worn. They could be shady and hard to see through. Your bulbs may also burn out and need replaced. If they don’t burn out completely, they could just go dim, making it more difficult to see the road at night. With dim headlights, your car puts less light on the road, which is an obvious hazard. Did you know that nearly 65% of accidents happen at night and in poor lighting conditions like fog or rain? Those headlights are really important!

So, how do you know if your old headlights are safe?

A good rule of thumb is: when in doubt, check it out.

If you’re not sure if they are safe, you may want to have them checked by a professional to see if they need replaced or if your headlight covers need cleaned or replaced. Its always better to have it checked, rather than risk it.

If you notice your headlights are not putting enough light onto the road to see clearly and fully when driving at night, then they are not safe. If you are a new driver, an elderly driver, or someone who has trouble seeing at night already, it’s even more important that you get your old headlights repair or replaced.

If you have old headlights, you can simply have the bulbs replaced and the covers cleaned, and you will be amazed at the difference! It will be like your headlights are brand new again and you will be able to see and drive safely.

Just a note, on the other hand, just because lights are brighter doesn’t mean better. Watch those extra bright lights that are on the market recently. These lights can blind drivers coming towards you and cause accidents.
