Gas prices seem to be constantly rising. While there is always an ebb and flow of pricing, it will always continue to steadily climb. We won’t see the low prices we saw in the 90s, for example. The best you can hope for is to learn how to save on gas so you’re not spending as much.
Most people work out a routine when it comes to their daily commute, but what if you’re going on a road trip? What if you’re visiting family, or if you take a new job and you now have to travel further than you did before or to a new location? These are just some scenarios that may make you want to learn how to save on gas.
Let’s take a look at some tips for how to save on gas:
- Invest in a fuel-efficient vehicle – We know everyone can’t just go out and buy a new car just to save money on gas. However, when you are purchasing a new vehicle, be sure to look at fuel-efficiency as one of your factors.
- Maintain your engine regularly – You should get regular tune-ups in order to maintain your engine. This means you will get better gas mileage and the gas you use will be used to its full potential.
- Use the right type of gas – You should also be sure you read your vehicle’s manual and that you are using the gas grade that is recommended. Most cars run fine on regular, so you don’t need to waste money on premium. Some luxury cars or specialty engines may require a higher-grade fuel, however.
- Check your tire pressure – Underinflated tires will also make you burn more gas more quickly. This is because they create drag so your vehicle is not as aerodynamic. Check your tire pressure and if adding more air, always be safe and don’t overinflate either.
