You are ready to go buy a car. Maybe it is the first time you are buying a car. Maybe it is the 10th car you have bought. Either way, you are ready to make that purchase, Cars are expensive. They are expensive to buy. Expensive to own, and expensive to keep. The only thing that cost more than a car in your life is a mortgage to a house. So when you are buying a car, there are things to remember that are very important.
Car sales are final: While some dealerships might offer a small window for returns, most car sales are final. This means if you have buyers remorse after a few days, you are still stuck with the car. If you do not like the features the car has, or doesn’t have, you are stuck with the car and responsible for the payments. Be sure you want the car before you sign the contract.
Learn about your car: Ask the dealer to show you all of the cool features. Many people do not know all of the neat things that their car can do because they have never taken the time to learn them. The dealers often know what kind of cool upgrades and tricks a car has.
There are usually tricks to get a better price on a car. Shopping the in December is a great time to save money on a car. If you can not wait, look at the price on the sticker. If there is only one sticker on the window, there is usually wiggle room to lower the price of the car. If there is a second sticker, this usually means that the price is more firm.
When buying preowned and used, look for dealerships that offer certified. The overall price tag will be a little higher than non certified, but the car comes with some advantages.
Know your trade in value. It is a way to make sure you are getting the best trade in value. If you get an offer that is too low, if you know the value, you can get the value raised or decide to go a different route.
