Making the Most of Your Car’s Heater
During the winter months, your car’s heater is getting used much more than any other time of year. You use it to stay warm, to defrost the wind shield and the back window. It’s important to stay warm when you go from home to work, or school, or wherever you’re traveling. So, what can you do to keep your car heater performing at its best? You might be surprised to know there are a few ways to get the most out of your heater.
Let’s take a look:
- First, don’t blast it to high when you first get in. While it may be tempting when you’re shaking and freezing, cranking the blower up to high isn’t going to make it heat up any faster. Think of it like the thermostat in your home.It has to warm up slowly, using the heat of the engine to heat the inside of the car. Turning the heat on full blast before the car is warmed up is only blowing cold air around the car. It will actually make you feel colder since it is blowing cold air on you.
- Secondly, run the A/C. Yes, it sounds odd but running the air conditioning balances the compressor and dehumidifies the air. You don’t have run it on max ac, though. It keeps your windows from fogging up, and it can help you heat the car faster when there are very cold temperatures outside.
- Get the vehicle moving. The sooner you get your car moving, the quicker the heat will warm up. The vehicle needs your engine running to create heat to blow through the car to heat your passengers.
With these tips, you can make the most of your car’s heater during the cold months. Marlow Motors, understands how important your vehicle is to you and they want to help you keep it running its best.
