When buying a car, everyone would love a new one. Sometimes, buying a new car isn’t a option. It could be that isn’t in the budget but sometimes, it just isn’t the best game plan. When thinking about what kind of car to buy, think about your needs. Are you driving far distances, or staying around town. Are you taking long road trips? Do you drive far for work? These days, most dealership do a great job making even older pre-owned cars look like new. Many pre-owned cars carry some warranty, although that is something that you need to follow up with from the dealer because it varies from car to car, dealer to dealer. If you decide, for whatever reason, that a brand new car is not what you are looking for, then there are things to consider before buying a used car.
1. Research: Always research the kind of car you would like to get. A quick search online can bring up what others think of the car after they have owned one. It will also list any common issues with the car and any recalls or defects. Be sure to check out the value of the car you are thinking of getting. The Kelly Blue Book Value lets you know what the car is worth, although it does vary by condition and mileage. It is a great place to start to get an idea, though.
2. How does it look: Once have found a car at the dealership, check out how it looks. Check the interior. Is the upholstery clean and does it have any tears? What does the outside look like? Is there any indication of an accident? If there was an accident, make sure it was repaired by a professional. There should little to no evidence that the car needed the repair. Check under the hood. Make sure that there are no old, dirty, or rusty parts. This could mean a problem down the line.
